Wilmina Rowland '29
Wilmina Rowland '29 was the first woman to serve as the guest chaplain of the US Senate. In 1971, the Rev. Dr. Rowland recited the daily opening prayer. Among the Senators present was Margaret Chase Smith. Rowland was the 6th woman to become an ordained Presbyterian Minister. In 1965 she spent three months in Mississippi as a member of the Delta Ministry project designed to eradicate illiteracy and promote health education.
