Ethel Leona Adem
On May 3, 1912, Miss Ethel Leona Andem accepted a position as instructor in French and Education at Wilson College. She was reappointed to teach those subjects for the academic year 1913-1914 at a salary of $600, and she was then reappointed again to teach French, ethics, and psychology for the academic year 1914-1915 with a salary of $700. The increase in salary was given in recognition of the fact that she would be “carrying more difficult work” as she would be teaching “required courses in psychology and in ethics.” During the summer of 1914, in studying at Columbia University, she had “both a lecture and a laboratory course in experimental psychology, dealing with sensation, perception, and judgment.” Since the correspondence in the Wilson file ends in September 1914, how long she remained on the faculty is not revealed in the few extant letters.
